It's a new day and the first quarter of 2011 is almost over.

The word of God for March, is found in Romas 15 : 4, for whatsoever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Amen.

Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Association is a Christian faith organisation. We reach out to the less privileged, encourage young people and share the good news of the soon return of our Saviour Jesus Christ. Our members reside in different parts of the United Kingdom and abroad. We continue to assist wherever we can here in the UK and abroad, notably on the continent of Africa.
Cornerstone is run on a voluntary basis by an Executive Committee. This group of individuals are elected by the membership every August at its annual retreat. Funding for the running of the organisation and its various projects is provided through member’s subscription and donations from kind individuals and organisations. To date, it has:

• empowered widows to provide for their families
• donated to orphanages
• sponsored education of underprivileged children
• taken 23 young people from the UK on an exchange visit to Nigeria

Presently, Cornerstone is also

• building 20 latrines and wells covering 4 villages in Ile-Ife, South-west Nigeria
• assisting in the building of an Adventist Church in Abia State, Eastern Nigeria

In May last year, we hosted a fun day at Hyde Park in Central London. Part of the activities included face painting, tug of war, sack race, badminton, football and so on. Some passers-by joined in the events whilst others stopped to enjoy the thrill. Every two months, we meet in various parts of the country to worship and encourage each other. This is referred to as ‘day of fellowship’. Each year we also hold an annual retreat, 2010's retreat was held at Aberystwyth University, Wales. That was from Monday 23 August to Sunday 29 August, it was a week where members, friends and guests praised the name of our eternal Saviour, Jesus Christ. Plans are already afoot to host a bigger and better retreat this year.

On Sunday, 26 September, Cornerstone hosted ‘The Donut Man’ at Newbold College, Bracknell, near Reading. This was a sell out event and we thank everyone involved for their kind support. Our last day of fellowship for the year was on 20 November at Stanborough School, Watford. Elder & Mrs Enoch Dare shared their experiences of 50 years of marriage and 30 years of marriage counseling. They also provided advice on how to raise Godly children in the society we live in. One of this was to have family devotion and worship each morning before facing the day. It was a programme which money cannot buy.

On Sunday, 5th of December, we celebrated the achievements of our young people with a black-tie dinner at the Watford Hilton in Watford. In attendance were Gillian Joseph of Sky News, Professor Olu Ogunsakin of City of London Police, Sir Dayo Olomu a renowned motivational speaker and Nike Bameeke who did a fabulous job anchoring the event. Some of the useful advice given to the young people were:

• The way you dress is the way you'll be addressed.
• I may speak with an accent but I don't think with an accent.
• I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
• You are entitled to your opinion but I am not obliged to accept it. Especially negative ones.
• Your action expresses your priorities.
• The journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step.
• I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

The actual presentation of awards to young people was a  grand occasion. Each recipient was treated as a star, indeed they all were. We thank you for your kind support.

In 2010, we achieved much on behalf of our Saviour, Jesus Christ and there's much more to be done. Meanwhile, we are mindful of two of our precious members who departed this world in an untimely manner. In all this, our God is faithful and we will continue to give thanks for His protection and guidance. We look forward to a 2011 packed with God's goodness and mercy.

The next Day of Fellowship will be held on 19 March in Bracknell. The emphasis will be on children and we look forward to welcoming you.
