Young PeopleCornerstone is committed to supporting the development of young people to their full potential. They are amazing and what is invested today is what will be reaped tomorrow. This is why the organization continues to be a rock of support to these growing minds. Every other month the young people congregate with their parents and peers to worship our God and celebrate success. Annually it hosts the Youth retreat and so far it has held 4 successive retreats. The last three have all been UK based where they have been addressed, encouraged and counselled various experts and professionals such as the police, successful business people, youth workers and a reformed offender. The last retreat was a two week trip to Nigeria in Summer 2009. It was entitled ‘Youth Exchange Programme‘, the experience left a lasting impression on all 23 teenagers (13-19 year old) who took part. Apart from witnessing the way of life and culture, they were touched by the personal stories of a group of orphans at St Stephens Centre in Abeokuta, Western Nigeria. They also met with with Royalty. We are grateful to the warm and generous hospitality of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse II, the Ooni of Ife and His Royal Majesty, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, the Orangun of Oke-Ila. Our gratitude also goes to Professor and Mrs Kayode Makinde and the Board of Management of Babcock University for being such a wonderful host. We cannot leave out Pastor Buki Ajide and Victory Sanctuary Seventh-day Adventist Church, they were kind and loving. Elder Seyi Wright CEO of Leadership & Vision Ltd provoked them to aim high in order to reach high. Pastor Gbenga Adeoye and Pastor and Mrs Dele Olaore may the Lord richly reward you. To Professor Michael Omolewa, Nigeria's former Ambassador and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, we are humbled by your generosity. Cornerstone Youth Exchange Team you were wonderful. To parents of the young people, may your sacrifice be richly rewarded. Space hinders us from thanking all who donated and worked tirelessly to make this project a success. We are most grateful to you all. For the future, we have plans to visit the Caribbean and the United States of America. Here are the personal and unedited accounts of Seun, Temitope and Femi. Earlier in the year, our young people presented 'Hope for Tomorrow, Starts Now' at Clapton Community Seventh-day Adventist Church, an event for the community. It was inspiring to see them on fire for the Lord and we thank the Pastoral team and members of the church for inviting us. We are also grateful for their monetary donation to orphans at the St Stephens Centre, located in Abeokuta, South-west Nigeria. Thank you for supporting our young people, every kind deed helps. God bless you.
